Balloon Arches for Events
Balloon arches vary in style, size, color, function, and price. When you are looking for a quote for a balloon arch, the first thing our decor designer will do is ask a few questions to determine what type of arch it is you are looking for.
- Will your balloon arch be indoor or outdoor?
- What size balloon arch are you looking for? Do you know what the limitations are in the space?
- Will it be for people to walk through or a photo backdrop?
- Will the balloon arch be over a table or a on a stage?
- Is there a particular style of balloon arch that you are interested in? Do you already have a photo of what you like?
We’ve taken a two color arch and built it in six different configurations so that you can have an idea of how an arch may vary at an event. Any of these arches can be delivered to your venue to help celebrate whatever special occasion you may have going on. A delivered balloon arch is always a hit for photo opportunities and to help greet the guests with something whimsical and fun.
Types of Balloon Arches
Organic Balloon Arch (NOT PICTURED) is an arch made of organic garland. This is a specialty balloon arch and can vary in size, style, complexity, and price. It is VERY popular right now. Because of that, we have also created this really helpful page that talks about organic balloon decor and we make sure to cover organic balloon arches, organic balloon garland, and other organic options as well. If this is what you are looking for, please click here to see what we have to offer as far as organic balloon arches.
The standard arch (A) will consist of a continuous stacking of four interlocked balloons which are all stacked exactly the same size. This is our basic arch and what we quote for most events.
The Specialty Arch (B) is a frame based air filled arch which is put together the same as the standard arch. The only difference is that the balloons are all sized to different diameters so that the arch gets a different effect. There are countless ways that a specialty arch can be assembled together, but this photo shows a simple example.
The Frameless Arch (C) is a classification we use for another type of specialty arch. This may or may not have a frame, but it is distinctively set apart from the specialty arch and the standard arch as it does not use the same stacking technique to create the arch. In this particular example, we’ve used linking balloons to create a frameless 3D box arch.
The Linked Arch (D) is a helium based balloon arch where we use specialty linking balloons to create a wonderfully full balloon arch that is only a single balloon in thickness. These are especially great when building bouncing arches or when looking to add a little bit more pizzazz while on a budget. It is a nice way to get something unique without the price of the specialty arches.
The String of Pearls Arch (E) is a very common balloon arch in classic decor and consists of numerous helium filled balloons tied from their necks to a mono-filament line extending across the room. This can provide a very elegant look to a room, but is also very labor intensive. This can also be modified to include foil balloons as well. Foils, or “Mylar balloons”, can be used to span the space in the same way as the latex balloons in order to offer another style of arch to fill space in a room.
An Illusion Balloon Arch (F) is simply a pair of columns which are modified to give the appearance of an arch. They are typically curved inward to suggest the movement of an archway and can have any number of unique or interesting toppers on them as well.
Sculpted Balloon Arch (NOT PICTURED) is a balloon sculpture built around a standard arch frame. This may be something like a giraffe (on one side) reaching up to the leaves of a tree (on the other side). Something like this is a great option when you are looking to combine the function of an arch with the artistic form of a more intricate sculpture.
Though there are certainly more types of balloon arches, this is a pretty great overview so that our staff can speak with you more about what exactly you are looking for. Once you know the type of arch you want, you can determine the size of arch and the colors of the arch accordingly.

Helium-Filled Decor vs. Air-Filled Decor
This is usually a very large deciding factor in price. Some things can only be accomplished with helium, but most can be done with just air. Helium used to be as little as $30 for a tank of helium. The prices now are closer to $300 per tank and, because of this, we treat it like liquid gold. A job that required helium can range in price depending on the season and the current helium prices. Whether there is an actual shortage or just a “planned” shortage, the helium industry has raised the price of tanks for anyone needed to do this type of decor.

Classic Decor vs. Deco-Twisting
This has a lot to do with the style of the arches can can overlap for many different pieces on a decor job. Classic decor relates to simpler arches, columns, and usually things more uniform in appearance. It also uses only round balloons and Mylar-like Foil Balloons. Deco-Twisting incorporates sculptures, twisting, pencil balloons, and other various elements into the design which can add flair and pizzazz to any figure. Typically the Deco-twisting is more unique and takes more time to make. So, it is often priced slightly higher than the classic decor pieces.
Size Matters
Whether you are putting an arch over a cake table or putting an arch in front of double doors leading into an event or having a balloon arch span the entirety of a stage, what we can do will vary depending on the type of balloon arch we want to create. Sometimes the arch will have to be helium. Sometimes we can do it from air. Over a cake table, we are looking at approximately 12-15 linear feet. A double doorway is around 25-28 linear feet. A stage is typically 40 linear feet or more. Why describe these guys in linear feet? Most of our base pricing is dependent on linear feet. So, until we know where the arch is going and the size of arch you want to have fill your space, we are unable to put together an accurate quote for you.
Indoor Decor or Outdoor Decor
As we need to take additional steps to ensure the quality of your balloon decor lasts throughout your entire event, outdoor decor often takes special consideration. Likewise, indoor events have special considerations as well. The height of the ceilings, the size of the room and even the type of ceilings can make a difference in determining the decor package we put together for your event. Because of all the many variables involved in setting up balloon decor at different locations, this is often why we will choose to see your venue before we build balloon decor for you or even provide a quote. That said, we can certainly get within the ballpark assuming there are not any complications once we see the venue.
