Metrocon is located at the Tampa Convention Center and we, being right across the street, decided we wanted to be a part of it too. So, we put together a proposal for the organizers. We needed photos inside the convention center for a package we were putting together for the City and we also had a TON of entertainers that work with us at the convention as well. So, we thought it would be great to trade a few tickets in exchange for some decor. This is not something we can always do and is not something we go out of our way to do, but it really worked out in this instance for us to barter tickets for their event in exchange for some decor. Let’s show you first what we sent them from YTE Events and Balloon Decor.

Mario Balloon Wall for Tampa Metrocon 2015

We ended up not doing any of the things on the proposal. Instead, we jumped at the opportunity to make a customized balloon wall as a portfolio piece that we could use in negotiations with the Tampa Bay Rays and the Tampa Bay Lightning as we do lots of work for them already. It didn’t take long to decide on what we wanted to do. I had only just started my sentence when both of my staff yelled almost in unison that they wanted to do a Super Mario Brothers themed balloon decor piece. So, we got to work and made it happen.

When it was all said and done, we had a great time and got to enjoy all of about 6 hours of Metrocon between all the events we were involved with that weekend. The 8 or so passes we got probably were not worth even the product cost in making this piece, but it was definitely tons of fun, a great portfolio piece, and we are happy we got to add something to such an already awesome event!
